There are different interventions that can be adopted to promote physical health during the aging process. Some of these interventions include; a) Exercising regularly: Regular exercise aids in maintain physical strength and mobility b) Avoiding smoking: Smoking negatively affects physical activity by damaging lungs and increasing the risk of strokes, heart attacks, and other forms of cancer. Smoking is a risk factor of COPD which is common among geriatrics. c) Get enough sleep and rest: Chronic sleep deprivation impairs the immune system and causes fatigue d) Maintain a healthy weight: Obesity is a major risk factor of disability in late life. e) Eat a balanced diet: Balanced diet prevents malnutrition which affects a person’s physical health 2. Emotional Health Emotional health can be promoted through; a) Being aware of one’s emotions and reactions: People should identify what either makes them sad, angry, or frustrates them and aim at addressing these stressors b) Express feeling appropriately: Ensure that close friends and family members know and understand when something is bothering. c) Strive for balance: Find better ways of balancing work, family, rest, and other social activities. d) Maintain proper physical health: Physical health affects emotional health e) Stay positive: Being optimistic promotes relaxation which is a good indicator of desirable emotional health 3. Social wellness Social-wellness can be achieved by; a) Rekindling old friendships and nurturing relationships with respective, supportive, and optimistic individuals b) Join social groups such as yoga class, gym, or dance class c) Volunteering in a course that one is passionate in d) Practice self-care by embracing basic needs such as getting enough rest, avoiding unhealthy coping mechanisms such as smoking and drinking alcohol, and exercising regularly
